COLLEGIATE SUMMER

UTID03SR07, Baptist Concern Center, Salt Lake City , Utah, 1 Student Needed

Local Contact: Jonathan Jones, 801-972-5708, jjones@slba.org

Our ministry is located in beautiful Salt Lake City , but it’s not just the majestic mountains that make this place beautiful.  It’s the feet of those who bring good news that truly make it a beautiful place.  The ministry of the Baptist Concern Center is to serve hurting people by showing them the love of Christ in partial ways.  Serving here will give you the chance to minister to lower income families with multiple ethnic backgrounds.  You will receive mentoring and training in inner-city social ministry from the staff at the center.  You will be given the opportunity to share the love of Christ by meeting the basic needs of individuals through our food and clothing ministry.  “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, naked and you clothed me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)  The spirit of these words will begin to come to life as we minister alongside each other to those in need.  You will get the chance to share the reason behind what you do through personal interviews, life skill classes and Vacation Bible Schools.  If you choose to serve here, you will be reminded that God’s children are precious to Him and should become precious to us.

COLLEGIATE SUMMER and HIGH SCHOOL SOJOURNER

TX01SR07 & TX01SJ07 , San Antonio Baptist Association, San Antonia , TX, 15 Students Needed

Local Contact: Wendell Skinner, 210-525-9954, wendells@sanantoniobaptist.org

Students will serve on inner-city teams implementing day camps with children from various housing project sites.  Most day camps will run eight to nine weeks in length.  This allows students to be involved in-depth doing ministries with children affected y poverty and broken families.  As the students share the love of Christ with the children, they see the children come to love and care for the missionaries.  This is a life-changing experience that will enrich missionaries, as well as greatly impact the lives of children in need.  Frequent fellowship opportunities among the summer missionary teams nurture friendships and spiritual growth.  Anyone who enjoys working with children in doing Backyard Bible Clubs, songs, crafts, games and recreation would enjoy a deep blessing from ministering in inner-city San Antonio .  Serving in San Antonio , missionaries benefit from interesting orientation.  They receive training in skills that will help them during the summer mission experience, but also for their own lives in the futures.  Supervisors and church members provide a good support system than enhances ministry success.  San Antonio is an interesting city full of opportunities for fun and play, yet it is a city of great need.
